Abstract: This study investigates the effects of screen time on early childhood development (ECD) outcomes in Nigeria. The objectives are to assess screen time patterns, explore its impact on cognitive, socio-emotional, and physical development, and propose guidelines for responsible media use in ECE settings. Employing a mixed-methods survey research design, this study justifies its approach by surveying parents, educators, and health professionals to gather insights into screen time practices and perceptions of its effects on young children. A purposive sample size of 300 participants ensures representation from urban and rural areas, reflecting Nigeria's socio-economic diversity. Oyo State is selected as the case study location, known for its demographic diversity and active community engagement in ECD initiatives. The reliability coefficient score will ensure data validity and reliability across qualitative and quantitative analyses. Findings are expected to inform educational policies and parental guidance strategies that promote balanced screen time practices and support optimal early childhood development outcomes in Nigeria.
